What’s The BIG Deal

We tracked down five places in the Fortitude Valley precinct that will not only cure your hangover but even throw a sneaky BIGSOUND deal your way.

Netherworld Bar & Arcade

In a nod to the golden age of video games, Netherworld Bar & Arcade offers Brisbanites an ‘80s haven of flashing lights and delicious food a short stroll away from the craziness of the rest of the Valley. They’re even offering anyone with a BIGSOUND pass four free game tokens and a free side with any burger or bun purchase this year. As for our friends who don’t eat meat, all items on the menu are vegan unless a carnivorous option is added, so you won’t have to rely on Brisbane’s many parks to graze in.  Stop in and try to make the high score board so you can leave another kind of legacy in the Valley.

Blute’s

Right in the centre of the Brunswick Street Mall in the heart of all the action is brand new eatery/bar Blute’s. If you’ve got a yearning for a good ol’ Australian pub – this is the place to grab a feed. The menu features supposedly the “perfect parmy” and an Aussie staple; cheese and Australia’s greatest cracker, the Jatz. For BIGSOUND they’re even offering delegates and musos any burger, fries and a beer for $15. Bloody, you beauty. Maybe we’ll even found out, “Who the fuck is Blute?”

Lucky Egg

Alright, this place is now right next door to Blute’s but with chicken that good we couldn’t leave it off the list. It’s packed up and moved from its previous home in the Brightside so you can also consider this a public service announcement. You’re welcome. Lucky Egg are matching their neighbours and offering a $15 meal deal for any burger, fries and can of drink. With all the drinking and running around, lining your stomach is important. Besides, it’s clucking good.

Bear Bones

Ahh coffee. The nectar of the gods to some, bean water to others. Whatever you want to call it, many of us don’t function in the morning without it so Bear Bones Speciality Coffee and Roastery have got your coffee needs covered. For BIGSOUND delegates they are even offering an avocado breakfast with any coffee purchase for just $12 so Tim Gurner be damned. Serving up speciality coffee from 7.00am through to 3.00pm, the speciality blend for BIGSOUND will be Cloud 9 so you can float through the weekend in a caffeinated haze.

Savile Row

For those solely surviving on a liquid diet this week (if I only drink wine does that still count as a juice cleanse?) cocktail and spirit bar Savile Row are whipping up a signature BIGSOUND cocktail again that you can sip on for $18 when you whip out your lanyard. Opulent, speak-easy style, with a wall of just about everything you could dream of, don’t miss this hidden beauty behind the closed orange door. Because the best way to combat a hangover is to drink more right?
